Supporting the health and wellbeing of veterans across Geelong

From exciting planned outings to encourage social contact to creating an outdoor space to gather, two new programs to support veterans and their families in Geelong will share in $2.4 million worth of funding under the Morrison Government’s Veteran and Community Grants Program.

Senator for Victoria Sarah Henderson said the program funds local organisations to ensure veterans and their families continue to get the support that they need.

“Across Geelong, the work of community organisations supporting our veterans is invaluable,” Senator Henderson said.

“I am delighted to announce the following successful funding applications for two wonderful projects which will encourage veterans and their families to better engage with each other, combating social isolation and improving well-being.

  • Geelong TPI Welfare and Social Club Inc. have received $12,000 to undertake a series of trips to reduce social isolation and to provide health and wellbeing programs for veterans.
  • The Naval Association of Australia (Geelong Sub- Section) Inc have received $20,000 to install a pergola to provide an all weather outdoor area for members and their families and guests to attend outdoor activities and events.
