Save Fort Queenscliff
The Albanese government’s fire sale of 67 defence sites, including Fort Queenscliff, is a national disgrace.
This decision, without any consultation, shows contempt for our heritage, our region and Australia’s defence capability.
Fort Queenscliff is one of Victoria’s most important historic sites and one of the largest and best preserved forts in the country.
There are many ways Fort Queenscliff could be opened up to the public including through leasehold for tourism, cultural or education purposes. Our military history must be honoured and protected, not sold off to the highest bidder.
Defence Minister Richard Marles’ shocking decision, backed by Corangamite MP Libby Coker, shows a profound lack of respect for our community.
This petition calls on the Albanese government to keep the Fort in Commonwealth hands.
Together, let’s fight to save Fort Queenscliff.

Shadow Minister for Communications and Digital Safety
