On 21 April 2022, Senator for Victoria Sarah Henderson officially “switched on” the Portarlington Recreation Reserve lighting upgrade at a Portarlington Demons training session, joined by Liberal Candidate for Corangamite Stephanie Asher.
“This $250,000 lighting upgrade, a 2019 election commitment made by the Morrison Liberal Government, is another example of how our government is delivering for Corangamite communities,” Senator Henderson said.
“Sporting clubs are the life blood of every community. I am delighted that the Portarlington community has received this much needed investment.”
“The lighting upgrade with an energy-efficient LED system is already making a major difference to more than 300 Portarlington Football Netball Club members.”
“The project also supported six jobs during construction, a wonderful local employment boost.
“I wish to acknowledge the City of Greater Geelong for its hard work in delivering the project.
“I also congratulate Liberal candidate for Corangamite Stephanie Asher who has announced that a re-elected Morrison Government will deliver $60,000 towards an electronic scoreboard for the Portarlington Recreation Reserve.
“Whether it’s a new outdoor heated 50 metre pool for the north Bellarine, road upgrades, a $2 million upgrade Bellarine Community Health in Portarlington or further tax relief for small businesses, I am proud of the many ways in which the Morrison Government is delivering for local residents.”
Liberal for Corangamite Stephanie Asher said the Morrison government’s investment in community infrastructure is benefitting hundreds of locals and visitors alike.
“This investment is a real win for local families and the broader community, and the Morrison government will continue to deliver infrastructure to encourage active lifestyles,” Ms Asher said.
“As part of my local plan, a re-elected Morrison Government will invest $60,000 to deliver a new electronic scoreboard for Portarlington Recreation Reserve.
“This commitment is just another way my strong plan for Corangamite will keep local communities active and connected.”
Only the Morrison Government and Stephanie Asher have a strong Local Plan for Corangamite, all part of our work to continue to build a strong economy and a stronger future.
