Barwon Heads Rd upgrade delivers major economic boost

Infrastructure Australia’s (IA) assessment confirms the very significant economic benefit in duplicating the Barwon Heads Road.

IA’s analysis shows a total economic benefit of $569 million, with travel time savings amounting to $356 million.

With the Morrison Government contributing $292 million or 80 per cent of the funding, we are determined to build the infrastructure our community deserves.  It is wonderful that construction is now well underway.

A duplicated Barwon Heads Rd between Settlement Rd and Reserve Rd, which includes a road over rail overpass at Marshall,  will provide a major safety boost for Marshall, Armstrong Creek and Charleville residents, as well as for the broader Bellarine.  It will also deliver significant savings in travel time.

When the Andrews Labor government declined to fund 100 per cent of the project at it promised to do at the 2018 state election, the Morrison Government stepped up and delivered most of the funding.

Whether it’s vital road and rail upgrades or new community and health facilities, the Morrison Government is working hard to deliver for Corangamite and the Geelong region.
