JOINT MEDIA RELEASE with Senator the Hon Anne Ruston, Minister for Families and Social Services
Families and children service providers will receive extended financial support to meet current community needs in my Patron seats of Ballarat, Bendigo, Corangamite, Corio and Gorton.
Patron Liberal Senator Sarah Henderson said the Morrison Government will provide funding for organisations such as Relationships Australia in Ballarat, Goulbourn Valley Family Care in Bendigo, Odyssey House Victoria in Corangamite, Barwon Child, Youth & Family in Corio and the Smith Family in Gorton.
“This will ensure continued services supporting those who need it most,” Senator Henderson said.
These incredibly important organisations offer useful advice and targeted assistance for local families through their children and parenting support services and deliver vital support for families when they need it most.
Minister for Families and Social Services Anne Ruston said the funding will be provided from 30 June 2020 for 12 months after current arrangements expire.
“This extension will allow the Government to work with stakeholders to identify the programs that are working well and how we can better deliver local services,” Minister Ruston said.
“We are committed to improving family and child wellbeing by intervening early and addressing known risk factors.”
Overall the Morrison Government will commit more than $225 million to extend families and children services across the country over the coming 12 months.
