The Morrison Government’s concern is to ensure that every state and territory has the best quarantine system available for international travellers returning to Australia.
A fail-safe quarantine system, coupled with first class contact tracing, is vital to combating the risk of community transmission.
If quarantine facilities at Avalon are able to improve the standard of quarantine in Victoria whilst ensuring more Australians overseas can come home, then it should be considered by the state government providing it poses no risk to our region.
We still do not have things right in Victoria – this lockdown is due to another breakdown in hotel quarantine along with some continuing shortfalls with contact tracing. This is causing real damage in regional Victoria where there are currently zero cases.
