Liberal for Indi, James Trenery
An elected Liberal Government will invest $1.8 million to upgrade the Wodonga Tennis Centre and deliver increased safety and necessary improvements to a key sporting asset in our community.
Liberal candidate for Indi, James Trenery, has secured this commitment so that the Wodonga Tennis Club – the premier inland tennis complex in Australia – can improve the safety and accessibility of the facilities and get more people playing the sport they love.
“I’ve heard from the tennis club and from many others in our community that these upgrades are needed so that more people can play in a safe and modern facility,” Mr Trenery said.
The funding will mean the club can upgrade lighting, resurface the synthetic turf, install a practice hitting wall, upgrade fencing, and refurbish the canteen and clubhouse.
Craig Farrar, President of the Wodonga Tennis Centre, welcomed the announcement.
“This upgrade is a game-changer for our club and the broader Wodonga community. With improved facilities, we’ll be able to host larger events, support more junior development, and offer a top-tier experience for all players — from beginners to seasoned pros. We’re incredibly grateful for the support and excited for what this means for the future of tennis in our region,” Mr Farrar said.
Shadow Minister for Education, Senator the Hon Sarah Henderson, congratulated the Liberal candidate for Indi, James Trenery for listening to his community.
“James Trenery is working hard right across the Indi electorate, listening to every community, and this commitment to upgrade the Wodonga Tennis Centre is testament to his ability to get things done,” Senator Henderson said.
“I’ll always listen and fight for our community. This project will keep our local community active and involved in grassroots sport for many years to come,” Mr Trenery said.
