Getting Indi back on track

Joint media release

Senator for Victoria, Senator the Hon Sarah Henderson

The Liberal Party has sounded the alarm on a minority Labor-Greens-Teals government, making it clear that winning Indi is vital to returning the Coalition to government.

Senator Sarah Henderson joined Liberal candidate for Indi, James Trenery, to open the Liberal Party’s campaign office in Wangaratta today.

“We are working around the clock to listen to the people of Indi on the issues which matter to them,” Mr Trenery said.

“Labor’s cost-of-living crisis is causing so much hardship for families, small businesses and farmers across regional Victoria.

“Whether it’s Labor’s reckless renewables-only policy, its neglect of our roads or failure to invest in country communities, the people of Indi have had enough of being treated as second-class citizens.”

Mr Trenery also championed the Coalition’s $5 billion Housing Infrastructure Programme to address Labor’s housing crisis.

“In contrast to Labor’s housing mess, our housing infrastructure fund will fast track up to 500,000 new homes including in Indi.

He said the plan focuses on unlocking supply, cutting red tape, and ensuring more Australians can achieve the dream of owning a home.

“I am committed to working hard to ensure families can afford the essentials and live with dignity,” Mr Trenery said.

Senator Henderson said next year’s federal election offered voters an opportunity to get Australia back on track.

“If elected, James Trenery would not only deliver for the people of Indi but help turn the nation around,” Senator Henderson said.

To win government, it is vital that we win seats like Indi. We know that a vote for an independent is a vote for the Albanese Labor government which will take our nation backwards.

“After doing so much damage in its first term, Australians have lost faith and confidence in the Albanese government Labor.”
