An elected Dutton Liberal Government will provide up to $40,000 from a revitalised Safer Communities Fund (SCF) to help fund nine CCTV cameras in Pakington Street, Geelong West.
Darren Buller, Liberal for Corio, said this funding will greatly improve community safety for traders and local residents on Pakington Street, where there has been a spike in incidents of anti-social behaviour and crime.
“This funding is a direct response to the concerns raised by our community. Following a community safety forum, the Liberals are responding quickly with practical measures to ensure that working and shopping in Pako is safer for everyone,” Mr Buller.
Senator for Victoria, Senator the Hon Sarah Henderson, said a Dutton Liberal Government will partner with the City of Greater Geelong to deliver the community safety upgrade.
“After meeting with local traders, I thank Mayor Stretch Kontelj and council for ensuring community safety across our community is a high priority,” Senator Henderson said.
“Pakington Street in Geelong West is home to many wonderful shops, cafes and other businesses and these CCTV cameras will ensure Pako continues to be a great place to shop, work and dine out,”Senator Henderson said.
Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Cyber Security, Senator James Paterson said under a Dutton Liberal Government, the Geelong West community will be stronger, more secure, and better supported to tackle crime.
“Getting Australia back on track means keeping Australia safe – safe for families, safe for businesses, and safe for communities,” Senator Paterson said
“Projects delivered under the Safer Communities Fund will help protect local communities by ensuring they have appropriate security infrastructure in place such as CCTV cameras, alarm systems and security lighting.”
This commitment is part of the Liberals’ plan to strengthen our local communities and get our country back on track.
