Safe Places grant round now open to Victorian organisations

I am pleased that the Morrison Liberal Government has announced that $60 million worth of grants are now available to assist local organisations to expand emergency accommodation.

The grant could help local women and children in Victoria experiencing domestic violence to find a safe and secure place to stay.

I encourage eligible organisations to apply for the grants. Grant funding can be used to construct, renovate or purchase new buildings or land to create additional safe places in our community.

This significant investment in emergency accommodation by the Morrison Liberal Government can provide more women and children who are experiencing domestic and family violence somewhere safe to stay.

Unfortunately I know that domestic violence is the leading cause of homelessness for women.  We hope this increase in emergency accommodation will help at least 6,500 women and children each year across remote, regional and metropolitan Australia.

The grants form part of the Morrison Government’s $340 million investment in the Fourth Action Plan of the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-2022.Applications for funding are now open to eligible organisations.
