Opening of refurbished Anglesea and District Men’s Shed

This week, I was delighted to formally open the refurbished Anglesea and District Men’s Shed (on Tuesday 19 November.)

Men’s Sheds have become such a vital part of our communities. As well as bringing men together to work on meaningful projects, one of the great successes of Men’s Sheds is the forum they provide to address challenges with men’s health, well-being and friendships.

Under the Stronger Communities Program, the Morrison Liberal Government provided $10,000 to support the refurbishment.  Our government has also supported the men’s shed with funding for solar panels.

I am delighted that our government has supported a number of other men’s sheds in the Corangamite electorate including in Ocean Grove and Torquay.

Every day, Men’s Sheds across Australia provide men with an opportunity for companionship and support within their community.

The Men’s Shed grants programme provides funding for health improvement activities, the purchase of tools and equipment, community projects and training and for building maintenance and development.

Our government continues to deliver for the Anglesea community including by providing:

  • $1 million for Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club for the redevelopment of a new lifesaving facility which will also serve as a conference venue. This is on top $500,000 provided under the Regional Jobs and Investment Package and $10,000 under the Stronger Communities Program;
  • $500,000 towards the new Anglesea Bowls Club rooms; and
  • $50 million upgrade the Great Ocean Road including projects funded in and around Anglesea
