Disaster assistance is now available for communities in the Hepburn local government area affected by the Central West Victorian storms which commenced on 5 January 2022, under the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
Senator for Victoria Sarah Henderson said the DRFA will assist residents with damaged properties, the council with the costs of road and infrastructure repairs and clean-up, and recovery efforts in affected communities.
“The severe weather storm event had damaging winds, large hailstones and flash flooding that left extensive debris and damaged a number of properties,” Senator Henderson said.
“This financial support will provide for immediate recovery needs for people whose homes or belongings have been damaged and help people get back on their feet.
“Support is also being made available to assist local councils with the costs of the restoration of essential public assets. I encourage anyone affected to reach out.”
Affected local councils should contact Emergency Management Victoria via email ndfa@emv.vic.gov.au to discuss the availability of assistance.
