Bannockburn’s Victoria Park Recreation Reserve lights up

The Bannockburn community has received a major boost with the completion of new sports lights at two ovals at Victoria Park Recreation Reserve.

The lights were funded by a $500,000 grant from the Morrison Government.

I look forward to seeing the benefits the lighting upgrade will bring to the Bannockburn community including increased opportunities for sporting and community activities.

The construction of lights on both ovals has now been completed with final testing carried out Thursday.

Now we just need to see the local footy season back up and running.

The investment into local sporting infrastructure was part of the second $30 million round of the Community Sport Infrastructure Program.

The Morrison Government has prioritised investment in local grassroots sports because it recognises the wider health, social and community benefits that come from greater activity and participating in sport.

I congratulate local stakeholders such as the Bannockburn Football and Netball Club and Bannockburn Cricket Club as well as Golden Plains Shire which lobbied hard for the funding.

The grant builds on other important investments the Morrison Government is delivering for Bannockburn including NBN fast broadband; local road upgrades including Mason Road and McPhillips Road; $1.2 million for the Bannockburn Civic Heart Project, $832,000 for the Bannockburn soccer facility and $3.2 million for a safer town entrance intersection at the level crossing.

26 April 2020.
