ABC must retract and investigate its biased Alice Springs coverage

The ABC has seriously failed its statutory obligation to report news impartially and accurately.

Depicting some attendees at the town hall meeting as “white supremacists” is not only grossly offensive and defamatory, but demonstrates shocking bias. At no point in the story did the ABC report on the profound concerns of business owners and community leaders about the escalating violence in Alice Springs.

The ABC must not only retract and correct this report and fully investigate how the story made it to air, it must urgently review how its journalists are trained and supervised.

The AM Program should also broadcast directly from Alice Springs for at least a week so that it can properly understand and report on this unfolding crisis.
