Community Energy Efficiency and Solar Grants open for applications

The Morrison Government understands the vital role community organisations play in supporting Australians, particularly in challenging times.

That’s why we’re taking strong steps to ensure they get the practical support that they need to reduce their energy use and costs.

Tomorrow (April 2, 2020), the Community Energy Efficiency and Solar Grants will open for applications.

Victorian Liberal Senator Sarah Henderson said this program provides grants of up to $12,500 for energy efficiency and storage measures such as solar panels.

“Community organisations can apply for a grant of up to $12,500 for energy generation and storage projects and for other energy efficiency projects, with no co-contribution required,” Senator Henderson said.

“A community organisation could, for example, install solar panels on their facility or undertake other efficiency measures to save on their electricity bills in these difficult times.”

Eligible applicants include incorporated, not-for-profit community groups such as community centres, men’s sheds, community sporting clubs, Scout and Guide groups, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community groups, and surf lifesaving clubs.

Country Fire Authorities and Rural Fire Services will also be eligible.

The guidelines and application forms are available from business.gov.au, or by telephone on 13 28 46.

Assistance is available from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, to help organisations get relevant information and apply.
