As the fight against COVID-19 becomes more serious by the day, there is never a more important time for Victorians to comply with all health advice and restrictions.
A breach of quarantine or self-isolation orders by just one person can put the lives of many others at risk. A failure to wear a face mask or a refusal to comply with the no-visitor rules can cause a COVID-19 cluster. A decision to go to work while sick can have fatal consequences.
It is difficult to believe that one in four people who tested positive for Coronavirus were found not to be at home when door knocked by ADF personnel. We need to see much tougher consequences for people who do the wrong thing.
Currently, I am one of many Victorians required to self-isolate for 14 days after coming into contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19.
I am one of the lucky ones. While I followed all health advice, have no symptoms and have tested negative, I am not out of the woods yet. I am required to have another test next week.
I want to thank the Ocean Grove respiratory clinic for providing me with such good medical care. I also wish to acknowledge the hard work of the Barwon Health contact tracing team.
Social distancing, hand hygiene and cough etiquette remain a vital part of our defence against widespread community transmission.
There is never a more important time for every one of us to do the right thing.
