A re-elected Morrison Government will provide an incredible $832,000 for the Golden Plains Soccer Club facility in Bannockburn to build new women friendly changerooms and extended facilities.
A key priority for the Golden Plains region, the upgrade will include new unisex change rooms, referee and medical rooms, accessible toilets and an undercover viewing canopy.
The facilities are necessary to service the second soccer pitch currently under development at the precinct.
This builds on the $100,000 commitment our government made in 2016 which funded part of the existing pavilion and new fencing.
“Investing in sports facilities and community infrastructure builds stronger regional communities,” Ms Henderson said.
“In particular we recognise the wider health, social and community benefits that come from greater activity and participating in sport.
“That’s why the Morrison Government has prioritised investment in local grassroots sporting facilities and I am proud of our Government’s support for the Golden Plains Soccer Club.
“I want to congratulate the Golden Plains Soccer Club and the wider Bannockburn community for working towards improved sports facilities which will particularly harness greater female participation in soccer.
“Every community matters and I am so proud be delivering for Bannockburn, including:
- $500,000 for lighting at Victoria Park;
- Supporting Bannockburn Men’s Shed; and
- $3.2 million for Bannockburn entrance safety upgrade*
Ms Henderson said the funding for improved sporting facilities in Bannockburn was only possible because of the Morrison Government’s plan for a stronger economy.
“Only the Liberals have a proven track record when it comes to managing the Budget,” Ms Henderson said.
“By paying down debt and growing the economy, we can afford to deliver funding for these priorities in communities across Corangamite.
“In addition to funding for projects such as the Golden Plains Soccer Club, this includes record funding for schools, hospitals, medicines and roads.”
It comes as the Prime Minister announced on Saturday our Plan for Sport and Physical Activity which builds on our significant investment of $2.5 billion in sport since we came to Government.
*Funding is contingent on the re-election of the Morrison Liberal Government
