I was delighted to join in the official opening of the Spring Creek netball pavilion at the Torquay Netball Club.
I was very pleased to have fought for and secured $200,000 for the new pavilion.
Torquay netballers and their families will this season enjoy their new facilities, including:
- a canteen
- change room and amenities for umpires, visitors and home teams
- office space, trainers’ room and storeroom
- a public accessible toilet
- undercover shelter.
The upgraded netball pavilion will help attract and accommodate more regional netball events, while driving participation in netball and other sports in the region.
The new clubroom will also provide facilities for other community activities set to take place at the venue.
I particularly want to congratulate the Torquay Tigers Netball Club which raised around $55,000 to help fund the new pavilion. This is an extraordinary community effort.
Investing in sports facilities builds stronger regional communities, is so important for health and wellbeing and is a key priority of the Morrison Liberal government.
I am extremely proud to be standing up and delivering for the Torquay community. Other key investments include $5 million for a new indoor multi-purpose stadium in north Torquay, $360,000 for a new soccer field and lights at Banyul Warri Fields, $2 million for the Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club and more than $5.2 million to fix local roads under the Roads to recovery program.
