More than $3 million announced for Lorne Stribling Reserve upgrade

I was delighted to visit Lorne to announce a major grant for Stribling Reserve under Round 3 of the Federal Liberal Government’s highly successful Building Better Regions Fund.

Stribling Reserve received a grant of $3,274,500 for the $6.54 million Stribling Reserve Pavilions Redevelopment Project.

This project will deliver a new netball pavilion and an upgrade to the main pavilion to include:

  • a new second level with northern entry;
  • community spaces;
  • commercial kitchen;
  • unisex amenities; and
  • new public toilets.

This is an incredible win for the Lorne community.

This project will deliver a state-of-the-art sports and community facility which will provide enormous benefits for the entire Lorne community including the Lorne Football and Netball Club, the cricket club, the many community groups which use this facility and the school which uses Stribling Reserve on a daily basis.

This is a game changer for Lorne. In partnership with local council, this major project is now fully funded which is an incredible achievement for the Lorne community. I am so proud to have advocated so hard for this investment.

It was also terrific to announce $85,363 for the Lorne Bowls Club under the Building Better Regions Fund. This will help fund a new synthetic green and new shade cloths, allowing the club to compete at a more advanced level and attract bowlers to Lorne to compete in tournaments.

I am very proud of our Government’s investment in vital community infrastructure for Lorne which includes:

  • $50 million for Great Ocean Road upgrades;
  • $8 million for the Point Grey redevelopment;
  • $250,000 international driver safety campaign;
  • $230,000 for Stribling Reserve lights and scoreboard; and
  • $20,000 for Lorne Bowls Club lights.
