I was delighted visit four surf life saving clubs in Corangamite today to announce grants under Round 3 of the Federal Liberal Government’s highly successful Building Better Regions Fund.
The following surf life saving clubs in Corangamite have received federal grants:
• Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club, $1 million: for the redevelopment of a new lifesaving facility which will also serve as a conference venue, an education hub and a focal point for other sporting and leisure activities. This is on top $500,000 provided under the Regional Jobs and Investment Package and $10,000 under the Stronger Communities Program. The new $4.8m Operations and Training Centre is now full funded which is wonderful news.
• Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club, $260,000: to refurbish the ocean observation tower and fit-out a café on the ground floor. The café will be operated as a training facility for local youth. Our Government invested $2 million to rebuild the club house which is currently under construction. (Total investment $2.26m)
• Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club $149,744: for the fit out of the hospitality venue including installation of kitchen and bar equipment with associated fixed shelving and joinery. Our Government has already invested $1 million to rebuild the club house, which is currently under construction and close to completion. Ocean Grove also received a $10,000 Stronger communities program grant. (Total investment $1.16m)
• Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club, $650,000: to rebuild the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Clubhouse. The facility will support ongoing training and development and community activities. Our Government has also provided the club $10,000 under the Stronger Communities Program.
Our surf lifesavers do such an important job protecting our beaches and saving lives.
I have been working closely with these clubs over a number of years, and am thrilled to make these announcements today on behalf of the Morrison Liberal Government.
