Delivering new recreation and children’s activities area at Portarlington Golf Club

I am delighted to announce that the Liberal National Government will invest $90,000 to upgrade the children’s activities area at the Portarlington Golf Club.

The grant will fund a new activities area including a new play activities area for children.

The Portarlington Golf Club will also use the new activities area as a space for parents and grandparents to use for classes such as golf training programs, yoga, Zumba and pilates. The aim is to enhance women’s recreational activities within the small community.

I look forward to seeing the social benefits the new area will bring to the Portarlington community.

With the North Bellarine moving into the Corangamite electorate, I am working hard to identify what matters to local residents and have launched a campaign for a new north Bellarine pool. It is clear that Labor has been missing in action on the Bellarine; to sign my petition please go to: sarahhenderson.com.au/petitions

I will be holding a community meeting on Thursday, 28 February 2019, 6:00pm – 7:00pm at the Drysdale Recreation Reserve, Duke Street, Drysdale. All community members are welcome to attend.

The $90,000 investment for the Portarlington Golf Club is part of the second $30 million round of the Liberal National Government’s Community Sport Infrastructure Program.

Our government has prioritised investment in local grassroots sports because we recognise the wider health, social and community benefits that come from greater activity and participating in sport.

It is a key priority of our government to promote the social and health benefits of physical activity and sport and our investment to upgrade facilities and infrastructure will provide a real encouragement for those local residents not currently active.

Previous investment in local sporting facilities has gone towards upgrades which improve the amenity and functionality for facilities, including new toilets, upgraded lighting and installing irrigation.

I know sporting and community organisations are crying out for help to upgrade their facilities. Because of our government’s responsible economic management, we are in the position to increase investment.
