Major grant for lighting upgrades at Bannockburn’s Victoria Park Recreation Reserve

I am delighted to announce that the Morrison Liberal Government will invest $500,000 to upgrade lighting at Bannockburn’s Victoria Park Recreation Reserve.

The grant will fund the upgrade of lighting at both sporting ovals located at Victoria Park.

I look forward to seeing the benefits the lighting upgrade will bring to the Bannockburn sporting community including increased opportunities for sporting and community activities.

The investment into local sporting infrastructure is part of the second $30 million round of the Liberal & Nationals Government’s Community Sport Infrastructure Program.

This also builds on other important investments we have secured for Bannockburn including:

  • NBN fast broadband;
  • Local road upgrades including Mason Road and McPhillips Road;
  • $1.2 million for the Bannockburn Civic Heart Project;
  • $4,000 for Banockburn and District Bowls Club;
  • $100,000 to upgrade facilities for Golden Plains Soccer Club; and
  • A new veterans’ memorial at Estia Health Aged Care.

Our government has prioritised investment in local grassroots sports because we recognise the wider health, social and community benefits that come from greater activity and participating in sport.

It is a key priority of our government to promote the social and health benefits of physical activity and sport and our investment to upgrade facilities and infrastructure will provide a real encouragement for those local residents not currently active.

Previous investment in local sporting facilities has gone towards upgrades that improve the amenity and functionality like new toilets, upgraded lighting and installing irrigation.

This demand has demonstrated that sporting and community organisations are crying out for help to upgrade their facilities and because of our government’s responsible economic management and delivering a budget surplus, we are in the position to increase the investment.
