Funding boost to combat social isolation of local veterans

I am delighted to announce that $14,400 has been awarded to the Geelong TPI Welfare and Social Club (“Club”) under the Morrison Government’s Veteran and Community Grants (“V&CG”) Program.

The Club has some 100 members which include many veterans and their wives. I was thrilled to visit a meeting of members on Friday to share the good news.

This funding will be utilised to support the activities of the Club, particularly with the cost of bus hire.

The Club’s day trips to special commemorative sites and events are an integral part of its work in combatting social isolation and building social inclusion.

Funding provided under the V&CG program helps support organisations to deliver programs which improve the health and wellbeing of members of the veteran community across the country. These programs also help reduce social isolation for veterans and their families and encourage them to remain independent, healthy and active.
