Labor all talk no action over passenger rail infrastructure

Labor’s announcement of $50 million to fund a feasibility study for a Geelong to Melbourne bullet train is pie in the sky.

This demonstrates that Labor has no plan to fix overcrowded and unreliable services including the disastrous regional rail link.

Labor is so incompetent that it is taking two years to complete a business plan to duplicate the track between Waurn Ponds and South Geelong.

Where is the money to complete the rail duplication between Waurn Ponds and South Geelong rail stations?

Where is the money to fix the regional rail link?

Where is the money for rolling stock?

And what about the funding required for a duplicated track to replace the single line tunnel through central Geelong?

Of the $224 million our government has announced for the South Geelong rail duplication project and the Warrnambool line upgrade, only $20 million is from the State Government.  This is simply pathetic and utterly unacceptable.

The Turnbull Government committed $20 million for fast rail business cases in the 2017-18 Budget, but Labor didn’t even bid for this funding.

Labor has failed to deliver vital rail infrastructure for our region, once again demonstrating its contempt for the people of Geelong and Corangamite.
