Regional Jobs and Investment Package for Geelong and Corangamite regions

  • $20m to drive economic growth and create jobs across the Geelong and Corangamite regions
  • Funding will be invested across three streams – local infrastructure projects, business innovation grants and skills and training
  • Local planning committee announced today chaired by Prof Jane den Hollander


Minister for Regional Development Fiona Nash and Federal Member for Corangamite, Sarah Henderson, announced the members of the Geelong Regional Jobs and Investment Packages (RJIP) local planning committee today.

Professor Jane den Hollander has been appointed chair of the committee along with the following members:

  • Mrs Helene Bender OAM
  • Mrs Bronwynne Calvert
  • Mrs Elaine Carbines
  • Mr Justin Giddings
  • Mr John Gorman
  • Assoc Prof Mark Kennedy
  • Ms Jodie Sizer
  • Mrs Kylie Warne

“These local leaders know their region,” Minister Nash said.

“This Local Planning Committee will nominate the sectors of local industry the package will invest in.”

Federal Member for Corangamite, Sarah Henderson, said the local planning committee for the Geelong and Corangamite regions would be known as the “Geelong Region Jobs and Investment Taskforce”.

The Taskforce will develop a local investment plan, which will identify forward looking strategic growth sectors to drive economic growth and create jobs.

“Once the investment plan is finalised, funding across all three streams of the programme will open for applications,” said Ms Henderson.

“The $20m Jobs and Investment fund is a great opportunity for the Geelong and Corangamite regions to drive job creation and new investment for our region into the future.”

“I would like to thank Minister for Regional Development, Senator Fiona Nash, for her commitment to this project and her assistance in seeing it is successfully launched.”

“This $20m investment is designed to strengthen and stimulate long-term economic growth and deliver sustainable employment,” Ms Henderson concluded.
