Young people in Corangamite encouraged to make Salty Lake Film Fest submissions

The Salty Lake Film Fest offers young people living in the Corangamite electorate the opportunity to express their creativity as well as showcase their talent.

Primary and secondary school students – either living in the Corangamite electorate or attending a school located in the Corangamite electorate – are invited to submit either a photograph or short film up to one minute in duration.

Due to Cotton On’s generosity, I am able to offer prize money of $10,000 to the winning schools.

This is a wonderful opportunity for all schools and I encourage as many people as possible to make a submission.

Entries should be based on the theme – Let’s end our plastic world.

While this centres around the need to reduce the impact of plastics in our environment, particularly along our coastline and in our oceans, students may interpret this theme in any way they see fit.

For further information on the steps our government is taking to phase out plastic microbeads, see: www.environment.gov.au/marine/marine-pollution/marine-debris.

Submissions can be made online at my website.

Guidelines:

  • Primary and secondary school students – either living in the Corangamite electorate or attending a school located in the Corangamite electorate – are invited to submit one entry each of either a photograph or short video of up to 1 minute in duration.
  • Professional equipment is not required. It is expected that most photos and videos can be produced using a phone or tablet.
  • Entries can be submitted by uploading on this page – winners will be announced at the beginning of Term 2.
  • Prize money of $10,000 has generously been donated by Cotton On – $5,000 for 1stprize, $3,000 for 2nd prize and $2,000 for 3rd prize. The prize money will be awarded to the winning schools to spend on student equipment, materials or a project, with five per cent of each school’s prize to be awarded to the winning student.
  • Entries must be suitable for younger audiences and be produced exclusively for the Salty Lake Film Fest.
  • By entering Salty Lake Film Fest, you agree that you hold all rights in the film and that your film may be used and exhibited for promotion, review, judging or screening.
  • Each entry will be judged by a judging panel which will include Sarah Henderson MP, an industry professional and a representative from Cotton On.
