Surf Coast residents, including thousands of families, deserve an aquatic centre.
I have campaigned for a public pool for Torquay over a number of years.
It is inexcusable that Surf Coast Shire continues to oppose this vital community infrastructure.
The Liberal Member for South Barwon, Andrew Katos, has committed $10 million to a new aquatic centre. I congratulate him on this wonderful election commitment.
Council now has the opportunity to apply for matching federal funding, under the Building Better Regions Program, of up to $10 million per project. This Program is open until 15 November so the Shire must act urgently.
I have launched a petition so that, together with local residents, we can show councillors that an aquatic centre in Torquay is so important for swimming safety, health and wellbeing.
People power matters. Your voice matters.
That’s why I am calling on Corangamite residents to sign my petition here: sarahhenderson.com.au/surf-coast-aquatic-centre
