I was delighted to join with members and friends of the Anglesea Bowling Club today to officially open the new $1.1 million clubrooms with club president Dick McDonald and Surf Coast Mayor David Bell.
I am extremely proud that the Turnbull Government has contributed $500,000 towards this wonderful community project.
For the 120 playing members and 200 social members, these new facilities are a real boost. The Anglesea Bowling Club’s new building, complete with expanded social rooms and commercial kitchen, is also set to become a great asset for the Anglesea community.
This has been a project for which the club has very fought very hard for many years. I wish to acknowledge the hard work of Dick McDonald and his committee, as well as former club presidents Gerard Morrison, Kaye Kendall, Keith Hornibrook and Jim Reid.
Our government has a strong focus on the importance of building stronger communities, particularly in regional Australia.
I believe the new bowls club will play a very important role in making Anglesea a better place to live and to visit.
