Community groups in Corangamite are invited to apply for funding to install rooftop solar photovoltaic, solar hot water and solar-connected battery systems that will not only help reduce their electricity costs, but also reduce demand on the electricity grid.
Funding of up to $12,500 is available under Round 2 of the Coalition Government’s Solar Communities Program.
“Australia has the highest penetration of rooftop solar in the world,” Member for Corangamite Sarah Henderson said.
“One in five Australian homes has rooftop solar and an increasing number of small businesses are making the most of the financial and environmental benefits of solar.
“This is a great opportunity for community groups across Corrangamite, such as sporting clubs, scouts, welfare centres, surf lifesaving clubs and Country Women’s Associations, to get involved.
“They can not only reduce their electricity costs, but also create their own power to supplement the grid.”
“This builds on the very substantial number of organisations which have received funding for community solar installations in the Corangamite electorate.”
Applications for Round 2 will open on 13 March 2018 and close on 31 May 2018. Guidelines are now available.
The Program will be delivered by the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, in consultation with the Department of the Environment and Energy.
