I am delighted that the Meredith post office is back up and running after almost two months and that mobile phone reception will be improved with the Steiglitz mobile phone tower now live.
In circumstances beyond Australia Post’s control, the Meredith post office ceased operating on 15 January 2018.
I am delighted that the post office will re-open on Friday 9 March 2018 under the management of Ms Natalie Sahakian.
I understand how important the post office is to the Meredith community. I have been working with Australia Post to ensure it is re-opened as soon as possible so this is, of course, good news.
I acknowledge the patience of local residents who, for the last two months, have been required to travel to Elaine to collect their mail.
I am also delighted to confirm that the Steiglitz mobile phone tower is now live which has improved mobile communications to Meredith and district.
This base station was funded our $220m Mobile Phone Blackspots Program and I am very proud that the Corangamite electorate has received funding for a total of 18 new base stations. See the full list here.
We all know how vital mobile phone coverage is for families, for doing business and during emergency situations.
Whether it’s postal services, better mobile communications, funding for a community centre, a safer school crossing or more investment in local roads, I am delighted to be working hard delivering for Meredith.
