Our region has secured $7.203m in funding to upgrade or replace six bridges under Round Three of the Turnbull government’s Bridges Renewal Program.
I am delighted our government will provide $2.39m to replace the Wye River Bridge at a total cost of $4.78m. A $3.971m project to replace the Moggs Creek Bridge will receive $1.985m from our government.
This investment in the Great Ocean Road is in addition to the $100m we are delivering in partnership with the state. This program has already delivered a new bridge for Separation Creek and upgraded roads into Wye River.
The following bridges will receive upgrades in North Geelong:
- Bayside Road (Cowie Creek) Bridge Upgrade (Southbound) $819,500 ($1.639m project)
- Bayside Road Bridge Upgrade (two way) $605,000 ($1.21m project)
- Bayside Road Bridge Upgrade (Northbound) $578,500 ($1.157m project)
- Cowie Creek Bridge Upgrade $825,000 ($1.65m project)
The Bridges Renewal Program is designed to bolster the productivity of local bridges, and give councils the support they need to better serve communities and drive greater efficiency in traffic movement. These upgrades mean local communities will have access to safer and more reliable road access.
Over $162m in funding toward Round Three of the Bridges Renewal Program in addition to the $216m committed under the first two rounds. For more information on the program, including a full list of successful Round Three projects is available at www.infrastructure.gov.au/bridges.
