At today’s community meeting, there was overwhelming support for preserving Shortland’s Bluff as public open space and re-locating the eco-cabins.
This is a very historic and special part of Queenscliff and I hope the eco-cabins can be moved to another location.
I am very encouraged by Mayor Tony Francis’s announcement that council is willing to compromise.
Council did not rule out that it would consider another site.
This is a significant win, in itself, for the community.
I also encouraged local residents to make a submission to include Shortland’s Bluff and the Queenscliff Lighthouse Reserve in the proposed national heritage listing of Point Lonsdale Lighthouse Reserve.
