I was proud to join Colac Otway Shire Mayor, Chris Potter and Colac Otway Shire CEO, Sue Wilkinson today to officially cut the ribbon to mark the commencement of the $1.95m Colac CBD Revitalisation project.
The project, which includes a significant $975,000 contribution from the Turnbull Government, comprises the complete upgrade of the centre median, installation of up lighting and new footpaths from Corangamite Street through to Queen Street, installation of a smart irrigation system in garden beds, new seating, bins and bike racks.
I have fought long and hard for the Colac CBD Revitalisation project and am delighted to have delivered this election commitment which was not matched by Labor.
The $1.95m project, which is expected to be completed by Christmas, will generate local jobs and help to transform Murray Street.
It will build civic pride and is an important project for traders, shoppers and the broader community.
Together with our investments of $185.5m for the Princes Highway duplication between Colac and Winchelsea, $114m for the upgrade of the Warrnambool rail line, $2.5m to upgrade Central Reserve, improved mobile phone reception across Colac Otway and the rollout of the NBN, the Turnbull Government is making vital infrastructure investments for Colac and district.
