I am delighted to call for expressions of interest from local community groups to fund small capital projects under Round 3 of the Turnbull government’s Stronger Communities Program.
The program is providing $22.5m nationally in 2017-18 to fund small capital projects in local communities. A maximum of 20 projects will be funded in each electorate with the grant amount up to 50 per cent of eligible project costs. Projects should be scheduled for completion by 30 June 2018.
Corangamite will receive funding of $150,000 to support projects which deliver social benefits.
Grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 will be made available to reputable, not-for-profit organisations to help fund local projects. Local government and incorporated not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply.
Community groups are encouraged to register their interest in the program by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Expressions of interest for funding opportunities in the Corangamite electorate close on Monday 7 August 2017.
A Stronger Communities Electorate Committee will identify priority projects and then invite selected applicants to complete an online application form. These will then be lodged with the Department of Industry for assessment.
Guidelines for the program are available at www.business.gov.au – search ‘Stronger Communities Program’.
Across Corangamite, 28 projects were funded under Rounds 1 and 2 of the Stronger Communities Program – these include $18,000 to the Lorne CFA for the purchase of a new command vehicle, $10,000 to assist the Torquay Marine Rescue Service purchase a rescue jet ski and $10,000 to the Ocean Grove & District Men’s Shed for a shed upgrade. The full list is here.
I look forward to seeing new local projects that will help build stronger communities in Corangamite.
