A re-elected Turnbull Coalition Government will help build a new 20 bed community hospice in the Armstrong Creek area of Geelong.
The Coalition will provide $5 million for Anam Cara House Geelong to expand its vital work in providing Respite, day hospice and dignified end of life care in a modern, ‘home-like’ environment.
The project will be further supported by $10m in locally-sourced project funding and philanthropic donations.
Anam Cara has already touched thousands of families across the Geelong and Corangamite regions.
This $15m development will increase its capacity to offer care to all ages, reducing the burden on other local public health and emergency facilities.
“A newly constructed, state of the art Anam Cara Community Hospice will be a wonderful asset to our community,” said the Member for Corangamite, Sarah Henderson.
“I understand how important these services are to so many families.”
The new project will complement the National Health Reform Agreement (NHRA) with state and territory governments on palliative care services.
The Coalition has committed record levels of funding for Victorians under the NHRA – with over $23 billion for Victorian Hospitals and health services from 2015-16 to 2019-20.
