A re-elected Turnbull Government will invest $975,000 to ensure the long awaited Colac CBD revitalisation comes to fruition after strong advocacy from the Member for Corangamite Sarah Henderson.
Minister for Regional Development Fiona Nash made the announcement while visiting Colac on Friday.
Minister Nash said this almost $2 million project will generate local jobs and stimulate growth.
“Being from a country town in the Central West of NSW, I know how important steetscapes can be to revitalising town centres.
“The Colac CBD and Entrances Project Stage 2 aims to improve civic pride through the upgrade and revitalisation of the Colac CBD. The Otway Shire will also contribute $975,000.
“Colac is a vibrant local community and today’s announcement will see the local CBD revitalised, helping to build appeal, community pride and an enhanced local CBD.”
“The project will see significant landscaping, lighting and footpath improvements which will make the CBD more visitor, shopper and pedestrian friendly,” Minister Nash said.
Member for Corangamite, Sarah Henderson welcomed the announcement and noted the importance of this project to the local community.
“I am so proud to announce that a re-elected Coalition government will deliver $975,000 to the Colac CBD and Entrances Project, this has been an important local project that I have fought long and hard for,” said Ms Henderson.
“A more welcoming and attractive entrance to Colac has long been a priority for the community and Council and this project will deliver that ambition.
“Together with our investments of $2.5m to Central Reserve and the Princes Highway duplication project, our government is delivering the infrastructure that the Colac Otway region needs.
