Federal Member for Corangamite Sarah Henderson is calling for ‘Expressions of Interest’ from local community groups to fund small capital projects through Round Two of the Turnbull Government’s Stronger Communities Program.
“The Program is providing $45 million nationally over two years to fund small capital projects in local communities,” Ms Henderson said.
“Our communities will receive funding of $150,000 per year over two years to support projects that deliver social benefits.”
“Between $5,000 and $20,000 will be made available to reputable, not-for-profit organisations for local projects. Local government and incorporated not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply.”
“Grants will fund projects which yield significant social benefits and can be delivered within the two-year lifespan of the Program. Applicants are required to confirm matched funding in cash or in-kind on at least a dollar-for-dollar basis.”
Community groups are encouraged to register their interest in the Program by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Expressions of Interest for funding opportunities in the Corangamite electorate close at 5pm on Wednesday 23 March.
The Stronger Communities Electorate Committee will identify priority projects and then invite selected applicants to complete an online application form.
These will then be lodged with the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development for assessment.
Guidelines for the Program are available on the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development website at www.infrastructure.gov.au – search Stronger Communities Program.
The Program aims to improve local community participation, cohesion and contribute to vibrant and viable communities.
“I look forward to seeing new local projects for a stronger community, and to the people of Corangamite benefitting from this program.” Ms Henderson concluded.
