Sarah Henderson MP, Federal Member for Corangamite, has welcomed the commencement of construction of the Point Lonsdale Foreshore Revitalisation project.
Ms Henderson joined Cr Helene Cameron, Mayor of the Borough of Queenscliffe, to inspect the works and the plans for the rejuvenation of the foreshore.
“The Point Lonsdale village is unique. This $1.32 million project represents a very substantial investment in the foreshore and main street of Point Lonsdale. This is great news for the town, for tourism and for jobs, Ms Henderson said.
“I am delighted that that the Federal Government is contributing $500,000 towards Stage 2 of this important project.”
“The scope of works includes construction of an all-abilities access ramp linking the street to the foreshore promenade and beach. There will be extra seating, picnic tables, barbeques, shelters and an outdoor shower, making the Point Lonsdale front beach an even better place to visit for families, local residents and visitors.
“The foreshore will be fully landscaped and power lines along Point Lonsdale Road will be installed underground between Admans Street and Kirk Road, creating an even more attractive village atmosphere.”
The Coalition Government is very focused on getting Australia back on track and understands the importance of investing in important community infrastructure like the Point Lonsdale foreshore.
